4 Jul

We are very excited to announce that Kelly Mason-Wynne will be joining Otago Water Polo’s coaching team next term.

Kelly was a member of the New Zealand Women’s Water Polo Team from 2001 to 2017 (U15 to Senior level) and has an impressive résumé spanning over a decade and a half. Her accomplishments include attending and participating in five FINA World Aquatics Championships between 2007 and 2017, and being named the second-highest goal scorer of the tournament across all teams in 2007. She also took part in the FINA World League from 2006 to 2017, as well as the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Gouda, Holland, in April 2016.

Kelly has also had an extensive international water polo career, earning a full scholarship to the University of Hawai‘i, where she was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2006, and the All-American Water Polo Coaches Association First Team in both 2008 and 2009. In her freshman year, she was ranked 7th in the MPSF Championship and 16th nationally.

She later played professionally for Lille Université Club in France in 2013 and 2014, with a stint in Moscow, Russia, in between her time playing in the USA and France.

We are thrilled about the future of our club with Kelly and our amazing coaching team on board, and we hope you’ll give her a warm welcome when you see her poolside.
