Welcome to Term 2!!!
We hope you all had a great Easter break and got to see the sun a little before winter starts.
While Term 1 was busy for many of our community with high school and intermediate school water polo and Flippa ball tournaments in full swing. March also saw our Senior Otago Dugongs (men) and Manatees (women) teams compete in the first round of the Div 2 Suzuki NZWPL in Cambridge / Hamilton. The senior national competition continues over the next couple of months with the Dugongs heading away to Wellington in late April for round 2 and both teams competing in Auckland for round 3 at the start of June. We wish them luck.
For the rest of our teams, the freeing up of pool space means that our training times for all age groups are increasing as we start to focus our training for the younger age group skills, games and eventually national tournaments.
- REGISTRATIONS: Registrations are still open for 2023. To register go tohttps://otagowaterpolo.friendlymanager.com/register. If you have any issues registering please email us and we can sort this out and reset your access.
- TRAINING: Our training times for Term 2 and 3 are locked in (see timetables below) with training kicking off again on Sunday 23rd April.
- NEW PLAYERS: New players are always welcome to Otago Water Polo so if you or your children have friends that want to give it a go, please tell them to get in touch and come along to one of our trainings to give it a go.
- FUNDRAISING: To allow us to maintain some of the lowest water polo training fees in New Zealand while still offering quality coaching we rely on the entire club getting involved in club fundraising opportunities. We had to postpone our Term 1 quiz night due to lack of numbers but have regrouped and are currently making plans for Term 2. We will get back to all members shortly. We have also registered to be part of events at the stadium for individual fundraising. If this is something you may be interested in please fill out the attached form. As always, If you've got any great ideas for fundraising and can lend a hand please get in touch.
- NEW BRANDING: Thanks to everyone who has helped out, voted and provided feedback on our branding surveys. We are busily working on this and will get back to you all soon.
- NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS: The NZWP tournament calendar is at the bottom of this newsletter. Accommodation has been booked and travel arrangements are in process which includes group flight reservations for all our traveling teams.
